On the Boards_Old Brownsboro Crossing Office Building |

Louisville, Kentucky – Can flexible and specific design elements work together to extend a building’s lifespan? MulvannyG2 makes it happen with this new office building prototype that balances two opposing conditions: Design to the immediate intended function as a Medical Office Building while anticipating the many, disparate programmatic requirements of the future. Based on site adjacencies and market potential, the building could someday become a mixed-use center, combining retail, healthcare, office, academic, cultural, and government functions. A flexible floor slab layout with three interconnected buildings allows vertical and horizontal connectivity, staged construction opportunities, and the potential for multiple, and even simultaneous, juxtaposing functions. This elegant, sustainable solution negotiates both specificity and flexibility to leverage the potential of many tenants and typologies, extending the building’s relevance over its lifespan. |
